Ultimate Mines Large Medal Haul at Provincial Qualifier

Seven provincial athletes from Ultimate Gymnastics enjoyed yet another highly successful weekend at the Gymnastics Ontario Women’s Artistic Provincial Qualifier held February 7th and 8th in Bracebridge, Ontario.

The club, competing in its second of a required three qualifying competitions, currently sees all seven of its athletes sitting in a position, in their respective level and age categories, to qualify for the Provincial Championships to be held in Windsor this coming April.

Ultimate Gymnastics, with very solid and strong individual event and all-around scores worthy of berths into the Provincial Championships, amassed a phenomenal 17 medals and 31 podium visits on the weekend, including 5 Gold, 7 Silver and 5 Bronze medals.

Enjoying multiple-medal weekends were Megan Bryson, (Level 7, Age 12/13) with 1st Place All-Around (36.825) and earned Gold Medals on vault and balance beam and silver on floor; Aimee-Leigh Balec, (35.825 All-Around, Level 8, Age 14+), with a Gold Medal on balance beam and a Silver Medal on floor; Cassandra Boyer (37.20 All-Around, Level 7, Age 14) with a Gold Medal on vault and Bronze Medal in the AllAround; Julie Bica, (36.550 All-Around, Level 6, Age 13) earning herself a solid 3 Silver Medals; Daniele Prochniki (36.25 All-Around ,Level 6, Age 13) nabbing 2 Bronze Medals; and Kathleen Varey (36.125 All-Around Level 8 Age 14+), who helped herself to a very impressive Silver and Bronze Medal on Uneven Bars and Vault.

Level 8, Age 10/11 athlete Emily Ukrainec, made several trips up to the podium, with a string of five 4th place finishes, rounding out a very exciting weekend for her team.
