Ultimate Gymnastics to Invade Ontario Championships

Friday the 13th proved to be good luck for several members of Ultimate Gymnastics’ Women’s Artistic Provincial squad.

The club received the official rankings from Gymnastics Ontario this morning, confirming five of their athletes have qualified for the Ontario Championships, which will be hosted by Rose City Gymnastics at the University of Windsor’s St Denis Centre from April 9-12th.

Earning their way to Windsor are Julie Bica (Level 6 Age 13), Cassandra Boyer (Level 7 Age 14/15), Emily Ukrainec (Level 8 Age 10/11), Aimee-Leigh Balec (Level 8 Age 14+) and Kathleen Varey (Level 8 Age 14+). The girls will square off against the Top 32 gymnasts from across the province, in their respective age and level categories.

As an added bonus for the club, Balec’s efforts over the course of the qualifying season earned her a trip to the Level 8, Age 14+ Individual Event Finals, finishing inside the Top 8 (5th) on Beam.

Boyer has the unique chance to give the club another event finalist, should an athlete scratch or be unable to make the trip, as she finished 9th (1st alternate) in Level 7 Age 14+ also for Beam.
