Ultimate Gymnastics Shines at Sunshine Classic
The efforts of six Ultimate Gymnastics competitive athletes combined to reel in an impressive 16 medals at the North Bay Gymtrix Sunshine Classic this past weekend.
Chipping in to mine a solid haul of eight Gold Medals were Julie Bica, Katerina Hamar and Bryanne Simmons, who all secured incredible 1st Place All-Around finishes in their respective age and level categories.
Bica and Hamar each grabbed additional Gold Medals on Beam and Bars, with Bica tacking a Silver on Floor to her tally, while Simmons took home Gold on Floor, Silvers on both Vault and Beam, and earned herself a special award for Best Dance on Floor.
Also making visits to the podium to collect hardware were Emily Ukrainec, earning Silver Medals on Floor and Beam, Christiana Collins churning out Bronze on Vault, and Emily Martin, competing in her first meet of the year, having Bronze Medals for both Vault and Bars placed around her neck.
A highlight of the weekend for two of the clubs youngest competitive athletes was the opportunity to perform in the Showcase part of the Classic. Avery Martin (5 years old) and Mikalah Pasqualino (7 years old) showcased their skills and talents on all of the gymnastics apparatus for the first time in their gymnastics careers.
