Ultimate Gymnastics Extends Head Coach

April 10, 2019 – Ultimate Gymnastics announced today the club has agreed to terms on a 3-year contract extension with their Head Coach, South African native Cheronne Viljoen.

The club hired Viljoen, a former member of her country’s national gymnastics team, in April 2017 after a worldwide search to fill their vacant head coaching position.

Club official Greg Balec noted that the bond he and Viljoen formed in the beginning was instant and has grown far beyond the mats in the gym, adding that she is not only a great friend but the perfect fit for our growing club.

“In making it official, I first want to quash rumors flowing through the local sporting community that we are losing our mat boss, and reiterate that Viljoen is an amazing coach and an even more incredible human being”, said Balec. “That being said, Viljoen has taken her athletes to new heights, many of whom migrated to our gym after learning of the welcoming environment here and the immediate positive impact she was making on the club and our entire membership both inside and outside the gym during her first two years here in Thunder Bay”, added Balec.

Ultimate Gymnastics is looking forward to the coming three years and beyond, and as they continue to send athletes to competitions in North America, Viljoen’s ties to the international gymnastics community will surely see the club send athletes to competitions in other countries around across the globe.

Tryouts for the 2019/20 Ultimate Gymnastics competitive squad will take place this Saturday, April 13th at 6:00 pm at the club located on Alloy Drive.
